From their bunker beneath a hospital Hamas leadership has purportedly signaled readiness to call a truce with Israel, including cessation of rocket attacks. The possibility of any permanent peace is remote as long as Palestinians are educated to believe their only just solution is the destruction of Israel. Until then the criminal abuse of the sick and children as battlefield armour seems likely to continue.
